The High-Speed 1 Line, formerly known as CTRL, was the first major railway line built in the United Kingdom for over a century.
Colas Rail Ltd designed, supplied and installed the tracks, the overhead electrification and electric and mechanical systems for Section 1 of this railway link in the Chunnel.

On 30 July 2003, the Eurostar broke the British speed record, reaching 334.7 km/hour through Kent on Section 1 of the High Speed 1 Line, produced by Colas Rail Ltd.
