Colas Rail, in alliance with TSO Caténaires (leader), has been awarded the reinforcement of the electrical infrastructures (power supply and feeders) on the modernization project of the Paris-Lyon High Speed Line, in France.

This modernization is the first stage of the HPGVSE (High Performance High Speed South-East) project led by SNCF, in order to improve the performance of the first High Speed Line in Europe (LN1), inaugurated in 1981.

The work to reinforce the electrical infrastructures and power stations carried out by our teams answers the growing energy needs due to the increasing number of trains circulating on the line. This allows 16 trains to circulate during peak hours, compared to 13 at present, thus 25% more.

The works are located in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, between the cities of Tonnerre and Sarry. They will include two phases: 6 months in 2020 and 7 months in 2021.
The project will have forty people at most on site, who will be allocated over the 4 main activities:

  • Civil works around the construction of catenaries with excavation activities, matting of supports and concreting of foundations
  • Power stations equipment
  • Equipment of the catenary masts and unwinding of line feeders
  • Equipment of civil engineering structures (e.g. bridges), including widening of protective awnings to cover the passage areas of new feeders
  • Works will be carried out at night, between midnight and four in the morning. Every morning, the teams are required to hand over the line for traffic.

Chiffres clés :

  • 71km of feeders
  • 100 excavations
  • 11 power stations modified + 5 new power stations
  • 10 civil engineering structures modified
  • 5600 hours of studies distributed between Colas Rail and TSO Caténaires
