To meet the growing demand for LRT/MRT stimulated by the rapid economic growth
of the city of Manila in the Philippines, Colas Rail has established a long-term
presence in the country. The company participates in the development of public
transport and aims to position itself as a key player in the Philippines by offering
sustainable mobility solutions for the government: Build! Build! Build! Initiative.
Colas Rail Philippines Inc was founded in 2021 to conduct Colas Rail
first project in the Philippines – the Systems and Track Works Package for the
Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) (also known as MRT-9) – in collaboration with
Colas Rail SAS and other partners.
The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) awarded Mitsubishi
Corporation the CP106 contract in 2022 for the design, procurement, installation,
testing, and commissioning of the MMSP Systems and Track Works.
Mitsubishi Corporation has engaged the Consortium of Colas Rail (as the
Consortium leader), Egis, and Thales as Specialized Subcontractors for the execution
of this contract.
Colas Rail will deploy our talents and know-how to complete this large project
successfully, paving the way once again for sustainable transportation
in the Philippines.
The MMSP project consists of building of a new 32km fully underground metro line,
with 15 stations, a maintenance depot at East Valenzuela, and the future Philippines
Railway Institute. The line will be extended to the Terminal 3 of NAIA in the future.
Once completed, the new line will shorten the travel time between Quezon City and
Taguig from nearly two hours to thirty-five minutes.
Colas Rail has mobilized its worldwide experts for this project and is recruiting local
talent. The goal is to develop local expertise in urban rail systems for the benefit of
the country overall transportation plan.
