Colas Rail is committed to reducing its carbon footprint

On December 15, 2021, Colas Rail launched the first edition of the “Carbon Fighter Colas Rail” Forum. An event that is part of the Group’s ambition to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2030 and to strengthen its corporate social commitment in partnership with its stakeholders.

Finding solutions to big challenges:
It was after understanding that more than 60% of our carbon footprint was linked to our suppliers that we decided to be involved in a co-building process to significantly reduce our carbon footprint with our stakeholders in the long-term.

What is the Carbon Fighter Forum?

First, it is a key step in a global process to reduce our carbon footprint called “Carbon Fighter”. This “Carbon Fighter” approach took the form of more than 70 hours of discussion workshops between Colas Rail and a representative sample of its strategic suppliers. This first step made it possible to assess their maturity in measuring and reducing their carbon footprint.

The forum was an unprecedented event that strengthened the commitment of key players in the fight against climate change and its consequences on our planet. Indeed, we have brought together our teams, customers, engineers, shareholders, and strategic suppliers around a common theme “the approach of reducing the carbon footprint”.

Fabrice Bonnifet, Sustainable Development Director of Bouygues, confirmed the Group’s proactive commitment to this approach, while reminding that “the effort must also focus on avoided carbon”.
We then openly shared best practices and together sought solutions to eliminate obstacles or difficulties in reducing the carbon footprint.

Today, we must show collective intelligence in the fight against climate change. Creating this event with our customers, shareholders, suppliers, and buyers was necessary to share Colas Rail’s vision and ambitions and to mobilize our ecosystem. It is together that we will succeed in obtaining concrete results.” – Jean de la Chapelle, DGA Operational Support

A new partnership to strengthen our shared societal commitment

During this forum Colas Rail revealed a partnership with Stéphane Petillon, founder of a bean to bar that is socially responsible for chocolate, “Les Copains de Bastien”. Beyond the manufacture of eco-responsible and quality chocolates, the SSE company “Les Copains de Bastien” also supports people who are unemployed by training them in the profession of chocolate maker and pastry chef. This commitment by Stéphane Petillon echoes that of Colas Rail, which works resolutely in favor of diversity and integration.

Colas Rail is thus giving concrete expression to its strong commitments in terms of protecting the environment and meaningful social and societal actions.
