Sustainable development priorities

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn’t just a buzzword: it reflects a fundamental shift in our society

On issues ranging from social cohesion to climate change, preserving resources and biodiversity, improving living conditions, and more, Colas Rail – first and foremost our employees – have high expectations and are very motivated to reach them.

Colas Rail response is rooted in our people-focused culture, combined with our core values of caring, sharing and daring, as well as our close ties with local communities in the regions where we operate, our spirit of innovation, and more.

    Safety Challenges

Health & Safety at Colas Rail, a shared culture

At Colas Rail, we are all responsible for our safety.

Because everyone deserves to return home safe and sound, safety is the Group’s core value. This collective continuous improvement approach is part of our operational excellence objectives. This commitment aims to guarantee the health and safety of all those involved in carrying out work across the rail industry.

We aim to create a shared safety culture within our businesses, shared across all of our sites and with our stakeholders.

Our state of mind to achieve zero accidents

Colas Rail is developing its safety culture across all our sites.

It is based on prevention and shared vigilance. This philosophy is implemented through our programs to improve the group’s safety culture.

    11 Lifesaving rules

Specific to our 12 areas of expertise, our Livesaving rules were created to reduce the risk of serious accidents and ensure that our approach to safety in clear and easy to understand.

We’ve developed a genuine safety culture to protect the wellbeing and lives of our employees. These rules exist to ensure everyone’s safety guaranteed at all times. There are no exceptions or exclusions with a positive and educational approach where no tolerance is accepted.

    Ethical challenges

In a constantly evolving work environment, every company has a strong duty of vigilance in order to identify risks and better prevent them. In particular, those affecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, the health and safety of people and the environment resulting from our activities.

At Colas Rail, we do everything we can to raise awareness among our employees and prepare them to make the right decision to prevent any risk situation.

    Ethics at Colas Rail

As a fundamental value that must be constantly promoted, we consider ethics and compliance to be "Personal Protective Equipment", in other words, the compulsory foundation that every employee must have at their disposal from the moment they join the company. This gives them a better understanding of the risks and enables them to deal with them in the right conditions when the time comes.

Familiarity with the Group's rules requires training, but also a great deal of transparency and a willingness to listen.

What does this mean in practice?

We are strengthening our compliance culture by identifying and regularly updating the risks of corruption and human rights violations, communicating our ethics and compliance rules, and putting in place controls to ensure that these processes are respected.
