THE RAIL-FELLOWS GUILD
Representing the true soul of our worksites, our operator work day and night, on weekends and public holidays. Without them, Colas Rail would not be what it is today.
The rail-fellows Guild board was set up in 1993.
Mission of the rail-fellows Guild
To identify the group's best operator on the basis of the example they set, their professionalism and their state of mind.
This unique order aims to:
- Promote loyalty among Colas Rail's best workers
- Develop their pride in their profession and their sense of belonging to our company and to promote their unique know-how
- Place them at the centre of the life of our organisation
- Create a feeling of fraternal camaraderie within the board
- To set an example and encourage the target workforce to emulate them
- To represent Colas Rail, wearing the company's colours and upholding its values on our worksites in order to raise its profile
For employees to be appointed as part of the rail-fellows Guild, they must meet a number of criteria such as their professionalism, the example they set, their state of mind and at least 3 years' seniority in the Group.
Their 3-year appointment may be renewed and they undertake to sign a pact of trust that sets out their status, roles and responsibilities.
The rail-fellows Guild is governed by a committee comprising a chairperson, a secretary and a vice-chair, who set the schedule and action to be carried out over the year.
Our 44 rail-fellows must:
- Wear the badge of the order on their protective clothing
- Share their techniques, knowledge and know-how
- Undertake to promote safety and take part in first aid training, or act as tutors at safety meetings
- Act as intermediaries between site managers and site workers and be identified among young people as ambassadors of their area of expertise and of commitment and respect
- Put forward proposals and improvements
- Protect Colas Rail's good reputation and promote proper understanding, a spirit of camaraderie and a sense of mutual assistance
-Participate in obtaining feedback from worksites (concerning QHSE, working conditions, etc.)
- Take part in the "Welcoming and training: tutor training" course

"Being a rail-fellows is the best reward a worker can receive. It is real recognition of our profession, our skills and our know-how. I've been part of the rail-fellows Guild for 7 years and have worked for the Group for 17 years, so it's a great source of pride to be part of this order."
Vincent Carron

It also means knowing how to communicate at different levels with all the people around you and, above all, being enthusiastic about your job.
And to want to go further and learn! I'm honoured to be part of the rail-fellows Guild with all my goodwill and humility."Christophe Dumet
